The Vernon D. & Florence E. Roosa Family Foundation

Funding Policies & Priorities
The Roosa Family Foundation has a broad range of philanthropic interests and will make grants only to nonprofit charitable organizations that are tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The areas given priority are the arts, education, healthcare, religion (evangelical Christian only), social and human services and the environment. Occasionally, grants are made outside the parameters but that is only at the invitation of the Foundation.

  • Scientific education at the elementary and secondary school levels, frequently where the Foundation already has a relationship
  • Early childhood education through public television
  • Historic preservation (primarily landscape), zoos, botanical gardens and various other environmental sub segments
  • Summer camp capital needs and scholarships
  • Scholarships for needy students at the elementary and secondary levels only at schools with which the Foundation already has a relationship
  • Organizations that provide multiple social and human services including food and shelter
  • Evangelical Christian churches and mission work
